The Switched Rack Power Distribution Units (PDUs) are sophisticated solutions to many power problems in current IT environments. These issues include, but are not limited to, unauthorized use of outputs, system crashes, power surges, overloads, and remote access to rack outputs. The Switched Rack PDUs solve these problems through the ability to control each output individually, define power on/off delays, monitor power, set alarm thresholds, and network management features. Users can turn individual outlets on and off, restore power to failed systems, and prevent unauthorized access to the outlets.
Power delays allow users to control the order in which equipment is turned on and off. Defining delay times avoids power surges that can lead to overloads. Monitoring power consumption at the rack level is a critical factor in preventing downtime due to overloaded circuits. The Switched Rack PDUs provide an overview of the total power consumption, which can be monitored both locally via a digital display and remotely. In addition, various warnings are issued as soon as user-defined thresholds are exceeded, which can lead to possible circuit overloads. The Switched PDUs can be configured and monitored by the user via the Web, SNMP or a Telnet interface.
